Green. It is amazing for this non-native English speaker how many different ways 'green' can describe something.
Here are come 'green' points for my fellow Filipinas in an English-speaking world:
greenbacks - the first time i heard this word, i thought "turtle". After all, there are leatherbacks and loggerheads. Nope. greenback is slang for US paper money.
green with envy - means very envious. This is also the result from being a green-eyed monster (jealous).
green - ecology conscious: reduce, reuse, recycle. drive a prius.
greenery - plants
green thumb - a person with a green thumb is good at making plants grow
green jokes - dirty jokes
green - freshman, new at something
that's all i can think of for now.
